O2 Think Big initiative to visit Bath this summer

Last week we brought you an exclusive interview with Jason Robinson on his thoughts ahead of this year’s Rugby World Cup. The former Bath and England player was talking on behalf of O2 Think Big as part of a new initiative to help unemployed young people gain work experience and employability skills through rugby.

The initiative is focussed on 16-24 yards olds and aims to help them get their foot on the career ladder through rugby via training and mentoring. The nationwide programme will provide 250 people with the opportunity to participate in a six week rugby programme which is being delivered by Think Big in conjunction with their charity partners Saracens Sports Foundation, Bath Rugby Foundation and School of Hard Knocks. After the programme has finished, each participant will work with a member of the team to help run the O2 touch tour.

Robinson is supporting the training programme by sharing his knowledge of professional rugby both on and off the pitch and will provide insight into the core values of the sport and the difficulties it has helped him to overcome.

The touch tour forms part of O2’s commitment to bring rugby fans closer to the action and increasing support through grassroots rugby for the England national team. The tour starts in London on June 6th before visiting Loughborough, Bath on June 20th and finishing in Manchester on July 11th.

16-24 year olds are able to apply for the training programme through the GoThinkBig website (www.gothinkbig.co.uk) by uploading a CV and submitting 100 words to support their application.
